How JLL connected its 1,900 employees to the value of resilience in the workplace – and other career ‘intelligence’

“I think it’s important for people to take time to reflect … I always think back to the people who really pushed me into areas of discomfort. We often don’t see discomfort as a good thing, but we learn so much more when we’re in a less comfortable spot.” – Diana Ryall

International Women’s Day 2016 may seem like a distant memory, but at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) the gender conversation continues amongst its 1,900 employees Australia-wide.

On 15 March, JLL’s PDS and Diversity Committee hosted an event attended by more than 80 employees – comprised of almost 50/50 men and women – at its Sydney head office. Opened by NSW Managing Director, Michael Fenton, the event featured a 30-minute keynote delivered by Diana Ryall on ‘Building your career and corporate resilience’. This was followed by a Q&A session with Diana and Adrienne Revai, COO for JLL Australia, facilitated by Xplore’s General Manager, Amanda Webb to further explore the topic.

Acknowledging that not everyone across JLL’s 11 Australian offices could be at the event, Esti Cogger, a member of JLL’s Diversity Committee interviewed Diana on a range of topics, including resiliency, diversity, gender equality and inclusive leadership for a three-part video series.

In Part 1 in the series, Diana draws on her experience as Managing Director of Apple Australia, and on the highs and lows of running her own business, which she established 13 years ago. The videos are available to all staff on JLL’s intranet, and on YouTube for general viewing.

Contact Amanda Webb to book Diana Ryall for a keynote presentation, panel discussion or interview opportunity.
